So I haven''t blogged in a few months and too much has happened. I feel like I should have my own show. For the past two months, I was working out in the 'field' (rural Kenya) and the experiences were unforgettable. From snakes, to witch doctors, wasps to getting stuck, you name it, we experienced it. I will be going again in a week and I will let you know about those experiences. From previous posts you know that I take a 'matatu' to work and it has got to be the WORST mode of transportation ever and ran by the most ignorant individuals on the planet. This morning, there was so much traffic on the roads because of impatient drivers who think that their duties are more important than everyone else's. They completely blocked the roads until no vehicles could move. We were in a traffic gridlock for about an hour with no policemen in sight. Wait, no that is a lie, a policeman drove by the side of the road and was yelling at the matatu drivers for blocking the road. He however, did not try to ease the situation. In all the commotion, the matatu I was in got bumped by a school bus and again nothing was done. As we went on, the conductor got impatient and told everyone to get out so that he could go back. All the passengers refused and the conductor retaliated by locking everyone inside the van and ordering the driver to turn the vehicle. All hell broke loose at that point. Long story short, the conductor was assaulted and we got to our destination 2 hours later. Ughh its a jungle out here.
